Welcome to South Pennine Road Club, we are a friendly active cycling club based in Derbyshire and the Southern Peak District.
South Pennine was formed in 1962 by a group of friends who wanted to race in time trials rather than just do the group rides and touring offered by other clubs of the period.
Having formed the club they joined the RTTC (now the CTT) and the British Cycling Federation (now British Cycling).
To this day, that time trialling tradition continues with a strong and growing membership racing at all distances with great success.... in more recent years, members have also diversified into many other cycling disciplines from the track league to mountain biking orienteering at night!
During the spring and summer the club organises a series of evening Club Time Trials at various distances as well as several Open Time Trials.
Autumn sees a hill climb and freewheel competition along with regular track sessions running throughout the year.
There are also regular Wednesday and Saturday rides that usually stop by The Post Office Cafe in Doveridge as well as the Monday night 'Winter Clubroom' in The Mason's Arms in Mickleover as the nights draw in.
The club also has its own coaches and many race winners & champions who are available to ask for advice plus some of the most respected time keepers and officials in time trialling to help point new members in the right direction.
The SPRC are also members of the Burton Cycling Association; a collection of clubs who put on Open events and give riders of member club priority entries.
